This robust evergreen shrub offers year round visual interest with its striking glossy green leaves generously splashed with golden yellow variegation. A superb choice for adding vibrant colour to shady areas where other plants might struggle, it thrives in difficult conditions including dry shade and urban environments. The dense, bushy growth habit makes it excellent for hedging, screening, or as a standalone specimen plant. Female plants produce attractive red berries in autumn if a male pollinator is nearby. Highly tolerant of pollution and salt spray, it's particularly well suited to coastal gardens or city planting schemes. With its ability to withstand neglect and poor soils, this hardy shrub provides reliable structure and colour with minimal care requirements. The bold foliage remains attractive throughout all seasons, brightening up winter gardens when other plants have faded.
