Prized for its dense, symmetrical shape and glossy dark green needles, this elegant conifer makes a superb specimen tree for formal gardens. The soft foliage retains its rich colour throughout winter while the naturally neat growth habit requires minimal pruning to maintain its classic conical form. Unlike some firs, it develops a particularly full and bushy appearance from base to tip, with branches that gracefully sweep upwards. Thriving in well drained soils, it grows steadily to form an impressive focal point that brings structure and year round greenery to larger landscapes. The needles have a distinctive silver underside that catches the light beautifully when stirred by the breeze.
