Bareroot Cornus alba (White Dogwood)
Vibrant red stems bring colour to the winter garden, intensifying as temperatures drop to create a striking seasonal display. The branches contrast beautifully with dark green summer foliage, which develops rich red and purple tones before autumn leaf fall. A vigorous, spreading shrub with a suckering habit, it is particularly effective when planted in groups or used to create informal hedging and screens. Adaptable and tolerant of a range of conditions, including moist soils and urban environments, it performs best in full sun to encourage the strongest stem colour. Small clusters of creamy-white flowers appear in spring and summer, followed by attractive white berries, sometimes tinged with blue, which provide food for birds and other wildlife. An excellent choice for year-round interest, it creates strong winter structure and combines particularly well with evergreen plants to enhance seasonal contrast.
