Astrantia major (Masterwort) 'Star of Billion'
A dazzling masterwort that produces an abundance of large, starry white flowers with exquisite green tipped bracts, creating a luminous display from early summer into autumn. The intricate blooms resemble delicate pin cushions, with numerous tiny florets surrounded by a ruff of papery bracts that retain their colour and form long after flowering. More floriferous than many white varieties, it forms generous clumps of deeply lobed green foliage that serve as the perfect backdrop for the continuous floral display. The sturdy stems hold the flowers perfectly upright, making them excellent for cutting while resisting damage from wind and rain. Thriving in moist but well drained soil in partial shade, it brings refined elegance to cottage gardens, woodland borders or naturalistic plantings, attracting pollinators while requiring minimal maintenance.
