Deep black purple foliage maintains its dramatic colour throughout the seasons, forming a striking contrast with other plants in borders and containers. The glossy, rounded leaves have an almost metallic sheen that catches the light, creating visual interest even when not in bloom. Delicate sprays of creamy white flowers appear on tall stems in early summer, hovering above the dark foliage like a constellation of stars. More tolerant of sun than many dark leaved types, it retains its rich colour without fading in brighter positions.
