Ilex aquifolium (Holly) 'Argentea Marginata'
A striking holly with dark green leaves edged in creamy white, creating a luminous effect in the garden throughout the year. The spiny foliage provides beautiful contrast against the bright red berries that adorn female plants in winter, offering both visual appeal and a vital food source for wildlife. More tolerant of sun than many variegated evergreens, it maintains its vibrant leaf colour even in exposed positions. The dense, pyramidal growth habit makes it superb for hedging or as a standalone specimen, with the variegation adding light to shaded areas. Adaptable to most well drained soils, it thrives in urban environments and withstands coastal conditions remarkably well. The evergreen foliage makes particularly attractive winter decorations when paired with its seasonal berries.
