Variant

A vigorous yet compact shrub that carpets the ground with arching stems, creating an attractive weed suppressing mat ideal for difficult banks or shady corners. From late summer through winter, it produces an abundance of pink flushed white berries that cluster along the stems, persisting long after the small bell shaped flowers have faded. The small rounded leaves take on subtle purple tones in autumn, adding seasonal interest before falling. More refined than common snowberries, its low spreading habit makes it perfect for underplanting beneath trees or cascading over walls, where it will tolerate poor soils and dry conditions once established. The stems root where they touch the ground, gradually forming an extensive ground cover that stabilises slopes while providing valuable winter food for birds.
