Escallonia rubra macrantha (Escallonia)
A robust evergreen shrub prized for its showy clusters of deep rose pink flowers that bloom profusely from early summer into autumn. The glossy, leathery leaves provide year round interest, forming a dense screen perfect for hedging or coastal windbreaks. Exceptionally tolerant of salt spray and exposed conditions, it thrives in coastal gardens while also performing well inland. Its vigourous growth habit and ability to withstand pruning make it ideal for creating formal or informal hedges that offer both privacy and wildlife value, attracting bees and butterflies.
