Hypericum (St John's wort) 'Hidcote'
This popular semi evergreen shrub brightens gardens with its abundant golden yellow flowers that bloom throughout summer, each adorned with a prominent puff of stamens. The cheerful blooms are followed by decorative red berries that persist into winter, adding seasonal interest. Growing to about 1 metre tall with a similar spread, its dense, bushy habit makes it ideal for borders, hedging, or mass plantings. Thriving in full sun to partial shade and most well drained soils, it shows excellent drought tolerance once established. The small oval leaves provide a neat backdrop for the flowers, while its resistance to pests and urban pollution makes it a reliable, low maintenance choice for year round appeal in challenging garden spots.
