Lavandula angustifolia (English Lavender) 'Munstead'
A particularly compact and early flowering lavender, producing abundant spikes of soft purple blue blooms from late spring through summer. The aromatic silver grey foliage forms neat, rounded mounds that retain their shape beautifully without sprawling. Well suited to smaller gardens or border edging, its modest size belies its robust nature, withstanding both drought and frost once established. The flowers exude a classic lavender fragrance that intensifies when brushed against or cut for drying. Pollinators adore the nectar rich blossoms, while the dense growth habit helps suppress weeds. Thriving in poor, free draining soils and full sun, it requires minimal care yet delivers maximum impact, making it perfect for both formal and informal planting schemes. The dried flower heads maintain their colour and scent wonderfully for use in crafts and potpourri.
