Its oval leaves maintain their rich green colour throughout winter, providing year round structure and privacy to gardens. Fast growing and highly adaptable, it thrives in most soil types and tolerates both sun and partial shade, making it suitable for various landscape situations. When clipped, it forms neat, formal hedges that can be maintained at heights from 1 to 4 metres, though it also works well as an informal screen.
