Mahonia x media (Oregon Grape) 'Charity'
A striking evergreen shrub with architectural presence, featuring bold, dark green holly like leaves that form elegant, upright sprays. In late autumn through winter, it produces spectacular long racemes of fragrant yellow flowers that brighten the garden when little else is in bloom, followed by clusters of purple black berries. Thriving in partial shade, it adapts well to most soil types and is particularly valued for its tolerance of dry shade under trees. Its upright yet spreading habit makes it ideal as a focal point in borders or woodland gardens, while also providing vital winter nectar for pollinators.
